Quantum Leap sequel gets series order and first-look image

May 8, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Almost thirty years after Dr. Sam Beckett never returned home, Quantum Leap is heading back to NBC with the network picking up its recent sequel pilot to series. Here’s a look at our new lead, Dr. Ben Seong, played by Raymond Lee (Here and Now, Kevin Can F**k Himself).

The new series, from writers and showrunners Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (God Friended Me, Alcatraz), will pick up three decades on from Sam’s disappearance and “follows a new team that has been assembled to restart the Quantum Leap project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.”

Lee’s Ben Seong is described as the “spiritual successor” to Scott Bakula’s Sam Beckett, and will presumably find himself on a journey through spacetime, facing mirror images that aren’t his own each week as he strives to put right what once went wrong in the hope that his next leap will be the leap home…..

Along with Lee, the cast for the new Quantum Leap features Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park and Nanrisa Lee. Scott Bakula had been expected to be involved in some capacity, but did not feature in the pilot and is not yet attached to the series. However, Quantum Leap creator Donald P. Bellisario is on board and will serve as one of the show’s executive producers.
