Red Sonja vs. The Army of Darkness crossover to launch in April

January 26, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Ashely J. Williams is heading back in time again, and this time he’s going to find himself face-to-face with the She-Devil with a Sword as Dynamite Entertainment launches its latest crossover miniseries Red Sonja vs. The Army of Darkness this coming April.

Celebrating the publisher’s 20th anniversary, the miniseries brings together Dynamite’s first two titles Army of Darkness and Red Sonja, which launched in 2004 and 2005 respectively.

“What I’d like to do here is use the Army of Darkness dark magic stuff and infuse it into Sonja’s Hyborian age, so we can do a modernized take on those earliest Thomas/Jones/Throne/Buscema comics,” teases writer Tim Seeley, who teams with artist Jim Terry. “Gritty, dark sword and sorcery, full of weird monsters and grim morality tales – the difference being that Sonja is now weighed down by Ash who is, as always, kind of a moron who ruins things is totally enamored with Sonja.”

Check out the main cover to Red Sonja vs. The Army of Darkness #1, along with three variants for the first issue…

An all-new mini-series featuring everyone’s favorite, Deadite-slaying, bumbling hero – Ashely J. Williams as he sends himself (once again) back in time, to the wrong time, only this time, THIS TIME he faces Red Sonja – She-Devil with a Sword! And lurking in the shadows? Kulan Gath himself and if the most dread Wizard of the Hyborian Age gets his hands on the Necronomicon? Well sh*t, that’s ain’t gonna be good!

Red Sonja vs. The Army of Darkness #1 will go on sale in April 2025.
