Rumour: Darth Vader to appear in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One

July 7, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Fresh from the news that The LEGO Movie helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are to direct a Star Wars Anthology spinoff centred on Han Solo for release in 2018, it is now being rumoured that the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader is set for a return to the big screen with an appearance in Gareth Edwards’ 2016 spinoff Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One.

According to Birth.Movies.Death, Vader will feature in the film, although “he will not be the main antagonist but he will be working behind the scenes, pulling strings and will appear onscreen. Literally, I’m told – he’ll be showing up via viewscreen or holo projection or something.”

While this should be considered a rumour at present, it makes complete sense that Disney would want utilise the iconic villain wherever possible, and with Rogue One taking place prior to A New Hope and revolving around a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, this seems like a perfect opportunity to include the fallen Jedi Knight.
