Rumour: Details on Sharon Stone and Sylvester Stallone’s roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and how they connect to Thor: Ragnarok

October 5, 2016 by Luke Owen

While we know that Kurt Russell will be playing Ego the Living Planet in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we still don’t know what role Sylvester Stallone will be playing in the film. But the chaps over at Schmoes Know claim they’ve got the inside track on where he’ll feature alongside Sharon Stone, who also confirmed herself for a Marvel movie earlier this year.

According to the site, Stallone and Stone will be two members of The Elders alongside Benecio Del Toro’s The Collector and Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha. In the comics, The Elders are cosmic beings who are the last members of their individual races. While The Collector has always been an Elder, Ayesha’s character is being changed from her comics alter-ego to fit into an Elder role (no confirmation on if she’s still connected to Adam Warlock though). It’s being said that Stone and Stallone will play two characters from the comics who aren’t Elders either, but will be changed so they can be.

Over at Thor: Ragnarok, it is being said that Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster is also an Elder, but an exiled one. The site is unsure if he will appear alongside his Elder brothers and sisters in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) in as yet-unrevealed role.
