SDCC: Peter Facinelli to play Maxwell Lord in Supergirl, two new villains revealed

July 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Supergirl has added another DC character to its ever-expanding roster, with the announcement last night during the Warner Bros./DC TV panel that Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie, Twilight) is set to play Maxwell Lord.

The show’s version of Lord is officially described as “a green tech billionaire who enjoys a friendly rivalry with Cat Grant and a fascination with National City’s newest arrival — Supergirl.”

“Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and I have been fans of Peter for years,” said Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. “We’re beyond thrilled to have him join us on Supergirl’s first adventures bringing the iconic Maxwell Lord to life.”

In addition to Facinelli’s casting, it was also announced that Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl will tussle with two comic book villains in Reactron and Livewire, although no further details were provided.

Supergirl is set to premiere on October 26th.
