Solo’s Alden Ehrenreich joins Marvel’s Ironheart series

July 16, 2022 by Gary Collinson

He may not have had the call to return to the galaxy far, far away just yet, but Alden Ehrenreich has found himself back in the Disney fold with the Solo: A Star Wars Story actor joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in the Disney+ series Ironheart.

According to Deadline, Ehrenreich has signed on for a key role in the series, which sees Dominique Thorne (If Beale Street Could Talk) starring as teenage genius Riri Williams, the inventor of the most-advanced suit of armor since Tony Stark’s Iron Man.

Details on Ehrenreich’s role are being kept under wraps, but he joins a cast that includes Thorne (who will make her debut as the character in November’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Lyric Ross (This Is Us), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) and Manny Montana (Good Girls).

Chinaka Hodge (Amazing Stories, Snowpiercer) serves as head writer on Ironheart, while the six-episode series has Sam Bailey (Brown Girls) and Angela Barnes (Mythic Quest) directing.

Solo star Ehrenreich was most recently seen in Peacock’s TV adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, and has recently wrapped filming on Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. He’ll next be seen in Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear, which is due to open in February 2023.

Ironheart is slated for release on Disney+ in 2023.
