2023 is off to a pretty strong start in terms of horror films. The genre has been in full force since the year began, and this spring wasn’t any different.
Three major horror films dropped right before we kicked off the summer movie season, and I look at which made the biggest impression on me and audiences. This video will discuss Beau Is Afraid, The Pope’s Exorcist, and Evil Dead Rise.
Each made quite the impression; Beau Is Afraid being Ari Aster’s most divisive film yet, while The Pope’s Exorcist proves to be a pleasant surprise. Then, Evil Dead Rise not only adds a fresh coat of paint to this long-running franchise but is now the highest-grossing Evil Dead film yet. The genre is in a perfect spot, so let’s look at each movie.
