Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series adds Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Benny Safdie, Kumail Nanjiani and more

March 29, 2021 by EJ Moreno

As the Obi-Wan series from Disney+ gears up to begin production in April, the cast has finally taken shape. We’ve previously learned that Hayden Christensen would join Ewan McGregor in the series, reprising his role as Darth Vader, but now we have a gaggle of new actors joining the Star Wars.

Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will make their Star Wars returns, having previously been seen as Owen and Beru Lars, the uncle and aunt of Luke Skywalker, in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Joining them are franchise newcomers Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

As per the official Disney+ synopsis, Obi-Wan Kenobi “begins ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.”

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is being directed by Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian), with McGregor, Chow, Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan and writer Joby Harold executive producing.
