Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series to premiere on Disney+ in May

February 5, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett draws to a close this coming Wednesday with its season (series?) finale, but we won’t have too long a wait before we venture back to Tatooine as The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+ in May.

THR’s report comes hot on the heels a quickly-deleted tweet from Brandon SanGiovanni, Enterprise/Global Program Manager at Disney+, who shared the following on Thursday (via The Direct):

The series will see Ewan McGregor returning to the galaxy far, far away as we pick up events between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope with Ben Kenobi living in exile on Tatooine as he watches over a young Luke Skywalker. McGregor will be joined in the cast by Prequel Trilogy co-star Hayden Christensen, who is set to don the Darth Vader armour again as the former master and apprentice reignite their lightsabers for a rematch following their epic clash on Mustafar in Episode III.

Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) is directing Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, while McGregor and Christensen are joined in the cast by the returning Joel Edgerton (Owen Lars) and Bonnie Piesse (Beru Lars), as well as Star Wars newcomers Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Maya Erskine, and Benny Safdie.
