Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred return for more Wicked Doctor Who adventures in October

July 31, 2025 by Andrew Newton

This October, Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred will reprise their roles as the Seventh Doctor and Ace in Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor Adventures – Wicked! These three brand-new audio adventures are set just after Ace has joined the Doctor on the TARDIS and is a long way from home. With treasure hunting, mystery solving and meeting legendary heroes to come, Ace is going to think it’s absolutely “Wicked!”

It was the 1987 Doctor Who TV episode Dragonfire when the Doctor invited Ace aboard the TARDIS and this next box set in the Seventh Doctor Adventures range explores what happened next in the following three adventures: Backwards and in Heels by Alison Winter, The Price of Snow by Katharine Armitage, and The Ingenious Gentlemen by Alan Ronald.  Throughout these stories, The Doctor and Ace will journey to 1920s Soho, visit a luxury ski resort in the 2070s, and travel to 15th century Spain, where they encounter Alonso Quixano, an adventurer more famously known as Don Quixote.

Script editor Matt Fitton said, “The lonely Time Lord starts to see the potential of his new young protégée, and the rebellious teen from Perivale has her eyes opened to the universe. These are Ace’s very first trips in the TARDIS – a madcap treasure hunt through 1920s London, facing danger on the snowy slopes of future Earth, and an encounter with another duo which holds a mirror up to the time travellers. ‘The Seventh Doctor meets Don Quixote’ is such an inspired pitch, I am amazed nobody has done it before!”

Doctor Who: The Seventh Doctor Adventures – Wicked! will release exclusively on the Big Finish website in October. Listeners can pre-order the digital download for £19.99 or the limited collector’s editions 3-disc box set for £24.99 now.
