The Boys casts Mason Dye as Bombsight for final season and prequel spinoff Vought Rising

October 17, 2024 by Ricky Church

A new supe is coming in the fifth and final season of The Boys. Per Deadline, Mason Dye (Stranger Things) has been cast as the super Bombsight.

Bombsight is an original character for the Amazon series rather than being adapted from the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic series it is based off. He was previously mentioned in the fourth season as being the third oldest know supe to be alive after Stormfront and Soldier Boy.

According to the show, Vought International approached Bombsight’s parents shortly after his birth and offered to inject the infant with Compound V. They accepted and he gained superpowers, though what those are remain a mystery. Bombsight would go on to star in the Vought produced film ‘The Curse of Fu Manchu’ during his time working for the company.

Dye will guest star in the final season of The Boys, but will then be seen as a series regular in the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising, which will feature Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles reprising their roles as Stormfront and Soldier Boy. Little is known about the prequel, but it will be set in the 1950s and explore the origins of Vought as Stormfront and Soldier Boy are caught up in a murder case.

Dye is most known for his role in the fourth season of Stranger Things, a high school basketball champion who becomes obsessed with the Hellfire Club after his girlfriend is murdered, incorrectly blaming them for her death through satanic rituals, and vows to take them down by any means necessary.

The Boys series executive producer Paul Grellong will serve as showrunner and executive producer for Vought Rising. Series creator Eric Kripke will also be involved in the prequel.
