The Elder Scrolls Legends: Alliance War expansion announced

April 1, 2019 by Patrick Nolan

Sparkypants, the developers of The Elder Scrolls: Legends, have announced the newest expansion for the card game, it is called The Alliance War. The expansion will be available two weeks from now on April the 15th. You can check out a trailer for the Alliance War expansion here…

Each Legends expansion so far has recreated a particular game or DLC from the main Elder Scrolls franchise in the card game; it looks like Alliance War will be no different as it will feature new cards based on characters from The Elder Scrolls: Online. New mechanics and deck archetypes will be coming in the expansion too; for instance, the ‘Empower’ mechanic gives your cards an extra effect whenever you inflict damage on your opponent. Because of some newly announced cards such as Jorunn Skald King and Clivia Tharn, Willpower/Endurance/Agility and Endurance/Strength/Agility decks will now be playable.

Just in case you were unaware; Legends is the free-to-play card game spin off for the Elder Scrolls franchise, much like Gwent is for the Witcher. The game was previously being updated by DireWolf studios until last year when Sparkypants took over and released a new launcher for the game. There was supposed to be a console launch of the game on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch that was announced at E3 last year, but we have yet to hear anything new in that regard. For now, the game is available on PC and most mobile devices.

Alliance War is available for pre order on The Elder Scrolls: Legends launcher for £48.99. Pre ordering the expansion will get you 50 Alliance War packs, an Alliance War legendary pack, an Alliance War premium card back and a special title, ‘Warmonger.’ The title and card back are available immediately with a purchase of the pre order, you will have to wait until the 15th for the card packs.
