With the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker offering a glimpse of a ruined Death Star, speculation has been running wild these past few months as to a) which version of the Death Star we’re seeing, and b) whether the wreckage sits on the Forest Moon of Endor or Yavin IV.
Well, the latest Rise of Skywalker trailer answered the first question – and ruled Yavin IV out of the second – by showing Emperor’s Return of the Jedi Throne Room among the ruins, and now, thanks to a press release for the Disney theme park attraction Star Tours – The Adventure Continues, we also know the location of the fallen battle station.
In what’s likely to be bad news for anyone hoping to see Ewoks this December (and good news for the Ewoks themselves, who would surely have been at risk of extinction from the impact), it’s not the Sanctuary Moon from Return of the Jedi where the Death Star II has crashed, but rather the ‘oceanic moon’ of Kef Bir.

The press release doesn’t offer up any further info on the location, such as whether Kef Bir is one of the other eight moons that orbit the gas giant Endor along with the Forest Moon.Thanks to Wookieepedia however, we do know that it’s also the homeworld of Naomi Ackie’s Jannah, so this may well be where her character meets up with the rest of the Resistance heroes.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release on December 19th 2019 in the UK and December 20th 2019 in North America. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
