The Best Slasher Movie Franchises of the Post-Scream Era

January 11, 2022 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno ranks the five best slasher film franchises post-Scream…

Slashers were all the rage for a while, but it would quickly fizzle out like most trends. In the 1980s, the horror subgenre was at its peak with series like Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child’s Play, and Friday The 13th. Then Wes Craven reinvented the horror sub-genre with his 1996 film, Scream. After that, horror was the cool place to be.

Following Scream though, horror and slashers movies needed some new life. The genre wasn’t at the heights in the previous era, but could slashers after Scream bring new life? It would take some time, but horror would recover by releasing some of the now-most iconic slashers in modern times.

With the new Scream releasing this week, join host EJ Moreno as he ranks the five best slasher franchises in the post-1996 Scream horror era, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…
