The Week in Star Wars – New Rogue One poster, Han Solo female lead casting and more

October 9, 2016 by admin

Your weekend edition of The Week in Star Wars has a brand new poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, details on the female lead casting for Han Solo and more…

There’s no Star Wars panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, so we can’t expect to see any big stories from the galaxy far, far away coming out from the weekend, but that didn’t stop Disney and Lucasfilm dropping a new amazing poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Check it out here…

…Our editor-in-chief Gary Collinson was lucky enough to build LEGO’s TIE Striker set from December’s anthology movie, and you can read his review here…

…Looking to the other spin-off movies and it was reported this week that Lucasfilm have begun casting the female lead of Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. According to Variety, Tessa Thompson (Creed), Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) have all been screen-tested for the role, which would suggest this will tie into Marvel’s Star Wars comic series, which debuted the character Sana Starros who claimed to be the wife of everyone’s favourite smuggler. This news also joins the rumour that Donald Glover is the front runner for the role of a young Lando…

…Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the release of the first level pack DLC for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens which fills in the untold story of how Poe Dameron survived a Tie-Fighter crash. You can see some of the gameplay for this new extension to the adventure with the new trailer, ‘Poe’s Quest For Survival’, which you can watch here…

…Bioware has also debuted a cinematic trailer for its upcoming Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion for the hit MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, which you can watch here…

…Classic Star Wars hero Wedge Antillies returned to the universe last night in the Star Wars Rebels episode ‘The Antilles Extraction’. You can watch a preview of the episode here, a clip here and see some images here. You can also read Chris Cooper’s review of ‘The Holocrons of Fate’ here…

…And finally, here are your comic book previews for the week. First up is Star Wars: Han Solo #4: Han has a traitor to the Rebellion on board the Falcon! But can he figure out who it is before they get him killed? And more importantly…can he stay in the Dragon Void race. Up next is Star Wars: Darth Vader #25: FINAL ISSUE! It has all built up to this! Vader’s trials against Cylo’s creations! His machinations against the Emperor! His covert missions with Doctor Aphra and her murderous droids! All comes to fruition in an oversized 40-page issue by the stellar team of Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca! You won’t want to miss this ending! And here’s the preview for Star Wars: The Force Awakens #5: Rey has been captured by the evil First Order! Meanwhile, Finn plans a mission with the Resistance in order to save Rey and destroy Starkiller Base! Only the vicious Kylo Ren stands in their way…

That’s all for this week – may the Force be with you.
