Big Finish has announced that the Thirteenth Doctor will be making a return this September in a brand-new full-cast audio adventure from Big Finish. Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures – The Return of the Doctor will be the second instalment in a brand-new audio series starring Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill (after the newly released Vampire Weekend), which will see the Thirteenth Doctor embarking on many more adventures.
The Return of the Doctor by Rory Thomas-Howes follows the Doctor and Yasmin Khan after their latest adventure saving the peaceful Zaarians from an alien threat. As the pair set off into the stars once again, Yaz can’t help but wonder: are they chasing adventure, or just running from something?
Persuaded by Yaz to turn back and check in on their new friends, a reluctant Doctor returns to the planet only to find it in chaos. The once thriving city lies in ruins, the Zaarians are in disarray, and something deeply wrong is lurking beneath the surface. As Yaz begins hearing strange voices in her head, the mystery deepens: What went wrong? And is the Doctor somehow to blame?
This upcoming entry in The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures marks the Big Finish debut of writer Rory Thomas-Howes, who called the experience “a dream come true.” The audio drama features Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill alongside guest stars Belinda Stewart-Wilson (The Inbetweeners), Charlie Kelly (The Terror), Will Kirk (The Gathering) and Stephan Bessant (Peaky Blinders).
The Return of the Doctor promises twists, emotional stakes and a mystery tied to the Doctor’s past, and is available to pre-order for £9.99 for the digital download, or £11.99 for the limited collector’s edition and download.
