Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis to reunite for adaptation of acclaimed graphic novel Here

February 18, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis are set to work together once again on an adaptation of the critically acclaimed Robert Maguire graphic novel Here.

You wait nearly two decades for a Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks reunion, following their work on this year’s live-action Pinocchio, and then the Academy Award winning double-act behind Forest Gump, Cast Away and The Polar Express team up again straight away for an adaptation of Here.

According to Deadline they will also bring along Oscar-winning Forest Gump scribe Eric Roth to write the movie.

Here was originally published as a 6-page comic-strip in 1989, before being expanded into a 300-page graphic-novel in 2014. It tells the story of one room and focuses on the many people who inhabit it over years and years, from the past to the distant future.

The film is currently at the centre of a huge bidding war between major streamers and studios, and will be produced by Playtone and ImageMovers.
