Slasher movies are some of the easiest films to make in the horror genre- take a deranged maniac, give them an air of anonymity (most likely via a demonic mask of some kind), and send them off to hunt down some moronic teenagers/adults and you have yourself a Friday night worth enjoying!
We are (slightly) joking, of course, as there are plenty of quality slasher films out there. The Friday the 13th franchise, in particular, comes to mind, with Jason Voorhees being a horror icon for a reason.
