Vin Diesel teases new Riddick movie and video game

June 30, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Pitch Black and the Riddick films have been a modest success for producer/star Vin Diesel. While not as flashy as the Fast Saga or campy as the Xander Cage movies, Riddick has provided fans some solid films and a surprisingly fun video game. And now Vin Diesel says there’s room for one more of each, and it’s coming soon.

In a recent interview to promote his new film, F9: The Fast Saga, Diesel opened up about the next Riddick film, working under the title Furya. The actor told Games Radar that writer/director David Twohy has already finished the script and locking down the time to shoot.

“[Director] David Twohy, he wrote a great script. It’s just a matter of timing when we get that opportunity to shoot that,” says Diesel. He continues, “But I believe we’re shooting that in Australia… So it’s safe to say that we are moving towards filming the fourth chapter of Riddick.”

The 2000 horror film Pitch Black went on to spawn the cult-favorite The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004. That same year, the game Escape from Butcher Bay dropped and expanded this budding universe even more. It was met with rave reviews and even scored some video game awards. In that same Games Radar interview, Vin Diesel teased that another game is hopefully coming with the next movie.

“We did have great success with Escape From Butcher Bay. It feels like an eternity ago now. But, I imagine that we would take advantage of the gaming space and add an extra chapter, but definitely, the [movie’s] script is already written.”
