Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn reteam for new Apple TV+ series

September 23, 2022 by Ricky Church

Just over a month after Vince Gilligan ended Better Call Saul, concluding the story of AMC’s Breaking Bad franchise after 15 years, Gilligan is ready to move on as he’s announced he and Apple TV+ will develop a new series led by Better Call Saul’s breakout star Rhea Seehorn.

The series, which Gilligan did not reveal the name of and is being secretive over its premise, has been greenlit for two seasons on Apple TV+. The series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television, Gilligan’s longtime partners for both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and Gilligan will showrun and executive produce through High Bridge Productions alongside former SPT president Jeff Frost and Diane Mercer.

In joining Apple, Gilligan will also reunite with former Sony executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlitch who now lead Apple TV+ and signed off on Breaking Bad.

“After 15 years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes… and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn?” Gilligan said. “It’s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her. And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht and Chris Parnell [former Sony executives now at Apple TV+]! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago. They’ve built a great team at Apple, and my wonderful, longtime partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.”

Are you excited to see Gilligan and Seehorn working on a new project? Can it live up to Better Call Saul? Let us know on our social channels at @flickeringmyth…
