Warner Bros. sets Sherlock Holmes 3 for 2020

May 8, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

It has been seven years since 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, with rumours of a third instalment diminishing over the course of time, but now in a twist worthy of the deerstalker sporting detective, Warner Bros. have announced a further outing in 2020.

According to Empire, only Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are confirmed to return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. There is no word on whether or not Guy Ritchie will return to direct, but considering 2009’s Sherlock Holmes made $524 million worldwide, with its sequel earning $545 million, it’s a formula the studio wouldn’t want to change.

Ritchie’s next project will be British crime caper Toff Guys, but before that we’ll get to see what he did with Disney’s live-action Aladdin remake, which will be released in May 2019.

Are you excited about the further adventures of this iteration of Sherlock Holmes? Let us know whether you’re looking forward to seeing Downey picking up the pipe and magnifying glass once again…
