Y: The Last Man is officially dead after failing to find a new home

January 17, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Back in October, FX swung the axe on its TV adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man, although fans were given a glimmer of hope with the news that a second season was being shopped to alternative outlets.

Unfortunately, it seems the post-apocalyptic drama has failed to find a new home, with showrunner Eliza Clark taking to social media to confirm that the series is now officially dead.

“For those of you who have been asking me: we tried really hard to get another platform to pick up season 2 of Y,” wrote Clark. “But sadly, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. It is always incredibly difficult to move a show, and in recent years, it has only gotten harder. So many of you have been so supportive of the show, and I am so grateful to you. I love the group of artists who made Y truly, madly, deeply. It was the best creative work environment I’ve ever been a part of. I am immensely proud of the work that we did.”

Based on DC Comics’ acclaimed series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man traverses a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event decimates every mammal with a Y chromosome but for one cisgender man and his pet monkey. The series follows the survivors in this new world as they struggle with their efforts to restore what was lost and the opportunity to build something better.

Y: The Last Man features a cast that includes Ben Schnetzer as Yorick, Ashley Romans as Agent 355, Diana Bang as Dr. Allison Mann, Olivia Thirlby as Yorick’s sister Hero and Diane Lane as Yorick’s mother, Congresswoman Jennifer Brown.
