Zack Snyder confirms Wonder Woman sequel, says Batgirl is DC’s next female superhero movie

May 17, 2017 by Jordan Jones

It looks like a sequel to Wonder Woman has been confirmed by none other than Justice League director Zack Snyder. A Twitter user going by the handle ArthurWongDCEU broke the news recently after asking Zack Snyder on the Wonder Woman red carpet in Shanghai about plans for a sequel:

Zack Snyder said there will have WONDER WOMAN 2!Deborah Snyder said the next female super hero movie is Batgirl!@BatmanNewsCom

It’s not surprising in the least that Warner Bros. is already planning a sequel for Wonder Woman seeing as these extended universes are planned years in advance. Luckily, there has been a decent amount of positive buzz from folks who have seen extended footage, or the whole movie, as Warner Bros. really needs a win here. The success of Wonder Woman is critical to the direction of the DCEU going forward, the upcoming Justice League, and especially the next female hero on the list, Batgirl, which has Joss Whedon attached to write and direct.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman will hit cinemas on June 1st in the UK and June 2nd in North America, with Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
