Zack Snyder’s Justice League will cost way more than $30 million to complete

May 27, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Bob Greenblatt, the chairman of WarnerMedia and head of HBO Max, says that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will cost way more than the reported $30 million.

When people were campaigning for the release of the Justice League Snyder Cut, most thought at the best they would get a rough cut of an unfinished movie. However, when WB announced that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be coming to HBO Max, it was revealed that a lot of money was going to be spent to finish the movie properly.

At the time it was reported the sum would be around $30 million but it seems like this is a rather low estimate as Bob Greenblatt, the head of HBO Max, has revealed on the Recode Media podcast (via ScreenRant) that it will cost a lot more:

“It isn’t as easy as going into the vault and there’s a Snyder Cut sitting there to put out… Zack is actually building it and it’s complex, including – and I don’t wanna get into too much detail that we haven’t already talked about yet – but, new effects shots. It’s a radical rethinking of that movie and it’s complicated and wildly expensive. Which is, of course, a number I won’t quote… I’ll just say I wish it was $30 million and stop there.”

It certainly sounds like they are going all-in on making Snyder’s vision for Justice League come to life. Hopefully, all the money and campaigning will be worth it!

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League was directed by Zack Snyder and featured Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf and Ray Porter as Darkseid.
