Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back as The Terminator in Terminator 5

June 13, 2013 by admin

A few weeks back Arnold Schwarzenegger dropped a brief update on three sequels that he has in the pipeline, confirming that the long-rumoured Terminator 5 has joined The Legend of Conan and the Twins follow-up Triplets as part of his upcoming slate.

Given Arnie’s age, there had been some speculation as to how he might feature in T5, with the suggestion that he could portray the creator of the T-101 seemingly more plausible than another outing as the unstoppable cyborg killing machine itself. However, speaking to The Arnold Fans, the action icon revealed that he’s going to need a new set of clothes, boots and a motorcycle as he returns to his signature role as The Terminator in the latest chapter of the sci-fi franchise:

“I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January and I’m also going to do King Conan – to play that role and also to do another Twins movie. So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films.”

Terminator 5 has been in development for several years now, with the rights to the franchise having passed through the hands of several parties before landing at Paramount under producers David Ellison (World War Z) and Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty). Director Justin Lin was previously attached to the project but dropped out due to his commitments on Fast & Furious 6, while the most recent draft of the script has been written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry).
