Friday the 13th gets a 2015 release date

November 27, 2013 by admin

As if 2015 wasn’t already stacked with the likes of Batman vs. Superman, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, The Fantastic Four, Star Wars: Episode VII and… umm… Fifty Shades of Grey, now there’s a new figure stepping into the fray – one wearing a hockey mask.

Paramount have announced a release date for their new Friday the 13th movie of March 13th, 2015. If you hadn’t guessed already, that’s a Friday.
2013 has been a good year for Jason Voorhees with the release of the complete Friday the 13th collection on Blu-Ray as well as 7+ hour documentary Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th giving fans their most in-depth look at the series.
Earlier this year it was announced that Paramount acquired the rights to Friday the 13th (as well as the South Park movie rights) in a deal with Warner Bros. in exchange for stakes in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Paramount originally owned the series during the 1980s before selling the character to New Line Cinemas after the disappointing box office return on Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes will produce the film, but no director has been attached yet. There’s also no announcement on whether this will be  sequel to the 2009 reboot or whether it will be a whole new reboot all together. There were however rumours a month ago that Paramount might toy with the idea of making this a found footage movie.
What would you like to see in a new Friday the 13th movie? Let us know in the comments below…
