James McAvoy will probably be bald in X-Men: Apocalypse

September 11, 2014 by Thomas Roach

James McAvoy has now played the character of Charles Xavier on two occasions in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, yet both times he has had a full head of hair. In the comics the character has always been bald and has been portrayed by Patrick Stewart in most of the X-Men films with a bald head. Whilst promoting The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, McAvoy has revealed that he may in fact finally lose the hair himself for 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, McAvoy was asked about Apocalypse being set in 1983, ten years after Days of Future Past, and said: “I’ll be older in this one, I think I’m losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that’s kind of all I know.”

The actor says he doesn’t really know much about the project as of yet, but has been in contact with Simon Kinberg who is excited for the project: “I got an email from the producer, writer Simon Kinberg, who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn’t want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don’t know.”

Production on X-Men: Apocalypse is set for April in Montreal, where Days of Future Past was also filmed. McAvoy will be joined in the cast by Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine).

Are you glad to see McAvoy finally go bald for the role? Let us know…
