Channing Tatum provides Gambit update, already talking sequels

October 15, 2014 by Gary Collinson

We’ve known for a while now that 20th Century Fox plans to reintroduce Gambit into the X-Men universe, with Channing Tatum (22 Jump Street) set to portray the cajun card-thrower. However, the character was absent from the recent X-Men: Apocalypse announcement, and is expected to make his debut in a solo movie. Tatum has now provided an update to MTV during a promotional interview for The Book of Life, and he’s already talking sequels and franchise potential.

“We’re finding a writer and sort of beating it out,” states Tatum. “I don’t want to give too much away, because we don’t know that much right now other than who Gambit is. e really do want to try our hardest to give something fresh. We’re obviously going to go to the saving the world superhero movies eventually, but maybe not for the first one. We want to introduce this character in a very different way. When you try to do something different, you never know right off the bat what that is. We’re feeling our way and really have to just prove that concept of that person.”

Are you excited at the prospect of a series of Gambit movies? And is Tatum counting his chickens a little early?
