Simon Kinberg responds to reports that Fox is unhappy with The Fantastic Four, confirms when the trailer will land

January 16, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Last night a rumour broke over at Bleeding Cool suggesting that 20th Century Fox is unhappy with Josh Trank’s “mess” of a Fantastic Four reboot, and that the studio is gearing up for heavy reshoots in an effort to salvage the movie (there’s even some wild reports of Trank acting up on set, trashing the house Fox rented for him, and spending the duration of the shoot high as a kite, which you can probably find with a quick Google search).

Well, according to Simon Kinberg, rumours about the reboot being in trouble are wide of the mark, with the writer-producer contacting Latino-Review to clarify the situation with the following statement:

“To confirm – The Fantastic Four will be doing 3-4 days of additional photography with director Josh Trank and some key cast members. We are very excited about the film and can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been up to. And you will be able to do that very soon as I can confirm here that the teaser will be on Kingsman: The Secret Service in theaters February 13.”

So, it seems we won’t have too much longer to wait before we get our first look at the film, at which point the critics will either be silenced by a stunning trailer, or the internet will explode with an outpouring of hate…

The Fantastic Four is set for release on August 7th with Josh Trank directing a cast that includes Miles Teller (Whiplash) as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (American Horror Story) as the Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as the Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as The Thing, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom, Reg E. Cathey (The Wire) as Dr. Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) as Harvey Elder.
