Director Sam Taylor-Johnson reportedly wants to pull out of Fifty Shades of Grey sequels

February 17, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Given the spectacular box office performance of Fifty Shades of Grey, Universal Pictures must surely be keen to get the second instalment going, but if The Sun is to be believed (and that’s generally a big “if”), the studio may have to do so without director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

According to the paper, Taylor-Johnson is contracted to return for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, but it looking to get out of her commitment due to on-set clashes with Fifty Shades author E.L. James. Back in January, the director told Variety that, “We disagreed a lot. I Feel like I never want to make a movie again. Maybe that will possibly change soon.”

So, perhaps Taylor-Johnson’s imminent departure is the reason Universal is yet to officially announce the sequel..?
