Neill Blomkamp has had to change his Alien 5 story due to Prometheus 2

March 23, 2015 by Luke Owen

From what we’ve heard so far about Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5, it’s going to take place after Aliens, but will not undo the work of Alien3 or Alien: Resurrection. According to Sigourney Weaver, she was convinced to do the movie while he told her the story he had planned out during the production of Chappie.

Well, it looks like that story may now have changed.

During an interview with Empire Magazine here in the UK, Blomkamp revealed that discussions between himself, 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott have made it clear that an element of his story needed to change as it would affect the plot of Scott’s own Prometheus 2.

“I changed the one thing [Ridley Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit,” Blomkamp said, adding that he has a title – but it would be a major spoiler to reveal it, “it’s kinda quite bold, but it gives away too much if I say the title.”

“Where it went after Aliens to me, as a fan, was wrong,” he also adds regarding his film taking place after the James Cameron sci-fi epic, adding that his film is “the triplet of the first two.”

“There’s a shitload missing as a fan that I would want to see,” he adds.

No word on a production date or full cast for Blomkamp’s Alien 5. Or Prometheus 2 for that matter.
