Ewan McGregor to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a new trilogy of films?

June 3, 2015 by admin

The Star Wars rumour mill is in full churn-out mode today with some new speculation coming from the chaps over at Schmoes Know. Looks like Disney aren’t just planning Star Wars spin-off solo movies outside of their main-story trilogy, they also want to create a whole new trilogy featuring a familiar face.

According to the website, Disney are in talks with Ewan McGregor for an “unknown project”, and their source is telling them the project is new trilogy of movies with him reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars prequels. Their source claims that this new trilogy of films would take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and would see Obi-Wan watch over a maturing Luke Skywalker with appearances from Owen Lars and Darth Maul.

This appears to be speculation at the moment, but if true would suggest that Disney have NINE Star Wars movies on their plans in the coming years.

What we do know for certain is that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on December 18th and sees J.J. Abrams directing returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in addition to Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Andy Serkis (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
