Bryan Singer confirms plans for an X-Men / Fantastic Four crossover

July 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It’s been rumoured ever since Fox announced its reboot of Fantastic Four, and now X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has made it official: plans are afoot for a crossover between the studio’s two Marvel properties.

“Those ideas are in play,” Singer tells Yahoo, revealing that there have been discussions about how to bring together the X-Men and Fantastic Four universes. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.”

When pressed for more information about this “natural mechanism”, Singer would only respond: “It deals with time. That’s all I’m going to say.”

And as for the chances of the movie happening, the director added that: “We’ll have to see how [Fantastic Four and Apocalypse] turn out. To just say you’re going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that.”

Earlier this month, it was rumoured that Fox are looking to Singer to helm the already-announced Fantastic Four 2, with a view to building towards the eventual crossover.

Are you excited about the prospect of Marvel’s First Family meeting up with the X-Men? Let us know in the comments below…

Fantastic Four is set for release on August 7th, while X-Men: Apocalypse lands on May 27th 2016.
