Jurassic World screenwriter swaps dinosaurs for Kong: Skull Island

August 19, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly is swapping dinosaurs for giant apes as the screenwriter has been brought on to work on Kong: Skull Island, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Connolly, who also worked with Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow on Safety Not Guaranteed, has been brought onto Kong to do some last minute tweaks on the script, with the film currently midway through casting and pre-production. Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Max Borenstein (Godzilla) and John Gatins (Flight) previously worked on the script.

Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), Brie Larson (Short Term 12) and Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton) have already signed on to the film, with rumours last month suggesting Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) and Tom Wilkinson (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) are in line to join the cast, replacing Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons, who had to exit due to scheduling conflicts.

Jordon Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) directs the film, which opens March 10th, 2017.
