Details on Rachel McAdams’ Doctor Strange character

December 29, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Yesterday Entertainment Weekly revealed some first look images from Marvel’s Doctor Strange [see here and here], as well as confirming that Mads Mikkelsen is portraying the film’s still-as-yet-unidentified main villain, and now we have some comments from Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and executive producer Stephen Broussard about Rachel McAdams’ character.

“Rachel McAdams plays a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into he role of a sorcerer,” states Feige. “She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity.”

“Rachel McAdams is sort of [Doctor Strange’s] contemporary in the modern-day New York world, before and after he goes on this crazy journey,” adds Broussard. “So, she sees him before, she sees him after. She’s kind of this audience point of view.”

McAdams’ exact role remains unconfirmed, but previous rumours have suggested she’d playing Christine Palmer, one of the character’s from Marvel’s Night Nurse comic book series.

“Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.”
