The Divergent Series: Ascendant loses its director

February 10, 2016 by Amie Cranswick

Lionsgate’s plans for the fourth and final instalment of The Divergent Series have suffered a setback, with Entertainment Weekly revealing that director Robert Schwentke has pulled out of the concluding chapter Ascendant.

According to the site, Schwentke – who has directed The Divergent Series: Insurgent and this year’s The Divergent Series: Allegiant – is looking to take a break, having shot both movies back to back. Ascendant is scheduled to go into production this summer, so Lionsgate will need to move quickly to secure his replacement.
