Justice League Dark receiving an animated movie

June 8, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Way back in 2013 it was announced that Guillermo del Toro was developing a live-action features based upon the Justice League Dark comic book, which revolves around the supernatural heroes of the DC universe.

Del Toro exited the project in June of last year in order to focus on Pacific Rim 2 (which as it happens, he’s no longer directing), before rumours emerged that Warner Bros. had not given up on the project, and was looking to bring in a director to shoot the film at some point this year.

Well, that hasn’t materialised yet, but as we wait for clarification on the status of the live-action movie, it has been revealed that John Constantine and company are to star in an animated feature. The news comes by way of the BBFC, who classified a special feature on the Blu-ray release of Batman: The Killing Joke entitled ‘A Sneak Peek at Justice League Dark‘.

It’s standard for Warner’s DC Universe Animated Original Movies to feature a sneak peek at the next offering, so it seems possible that Justice League Dark could arrive this year. Perhaps we’ll get more details during the San Diego Comic-Con.
