Miles Teller open to returning for Fantastic Four sequel

August 9, 2016 by Gary Collinson

20th Century Fox endured a rather torrid time with its Fantastic Four reboot; fans slammed the project for its casting choices, the studio had to suffer Josh Trank’s antics on set and his criticism of the movie upon release, and it was mauled by both critics and audiences alike, tanking – or ‘Tranking’ – at the box office with just $167 million worldwide.

Prior to its release, Fox jumped the gun by announcing a sequel for 2017, which it has since quietly removed from its upcoming slate. However, as yet, there’s been no official word from the studio that Fantastic Four 2 is dead and buried, and producer Simon Kinberg has even stated that they still have big plans for the franchise. If so, it seems that Miles Teller is open to a return as Reed Richards…

“Yeah, for sure,” Teller told Joblo when asked if he’d be up for a second outing as Mister Fantastic. “I loved the cast, I loved the characters. I think it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love how much they really need to rely on each other. This Avengers thing, they’ve kind of created their own Fantastic Four in a way, Marvel’s first family. Their powers can’t just exist on their own, you need Thor to do this, the Hulk to do his thing. So yeah, absolutely, I would do another one.”

Back in January, Michael B. Jordan also admitted that he’d reprise the role of Johnny Storm, so that’s half of Marvel’s First Family potentially back on board… now, how about Kate Mara and Jamie Bell?

Do you have any interest in seeing a Fantastic Four sequel? Could Fox salvage anything from the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
