Mel Gibson shares his thoughts on Mad Max: Fury Road

November 29, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Mad Max: Fury Road was one of the most acclaimed films of 2015, both by fans and critics alike, with George Miller’s post-apocalyptic action epic featuring heavily on many end of the year best of lists, as well as winning six Academy Awards.

For a long time, Miller intended on having Mel Gibson reprise the role of Max Rockatansky, before Gibson’s age (and antics) caught up with him, resulting in Tom Hardy stepping in to take on the iconic role. So, what did Gibson make of the new movie?

“It’s visually spectacular,” Gibson told Collider. “It’s crazy, but that’s George. He’s a scientist, he’s the Einstein of the edit and of being able to get the pieces necessary to make a truly compelling in-your-face action sequence.”

Gibson’s new film Hacksaw Ridge opens in the States on November 4th, while he has several future projects in the pipeline, including a sequel to The Passion of the Christ and another military drama The Crossroad., as well as starring alongside Sean Penn and Natalie Dormer in The Professor and the Madman.
