Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger and Runaways rumoured to start shooting next month

January 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was announced that the small screen side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be venturing beyond ABC and Netflix, with Hulu developing a Runaways pilot, and Freeform giving a straight-to-series order to Cloak and Dagger.

Well, if rumour is to be believed, both projects are set to begin filming in February, with MCU Exchange reporting that Runaways will shoot in Los Angeles under the working title Rugrats, while Cloak and Dagger will go into production in New Orleans using the working title Shadows.

CBM is also suggesting that Cloak and Dagger will have a production budget of $42 million, which puts it on par with that of the Netflix series for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

Back in November, it was reported that Freeform was targeting a Winter 2018 premiere date for Cloak and Dagger, but if the show is set to commence filming next month, we should probably expect it much sooner.

That being said, we’ve had no word on casting for either projects yet, which is certainly odd if both projects are just weeks away from filming. So, if the report is accurate, we’ll likely get some official confirmation from Marvel very soon indeed.
