James Wan to adapt Malignant Man for Fox

June 18, 2014 by Gary Collinson

20th Century Fox has snapped up another superhero property, with Deadline revealing that the studio has acquired the rights to James Wan’s (Saw, Insidious) comic book series Malignant Man, which was released through BOOM! Studios. Wan – who is currently putting the finishing touches to Fast & Furious 7 – will produce the adaptation, developing it with an eye to directing.

Malignant Man centres on Alan Gates, “a cancer patient with a terminal diagnosis who is resigned to his fate until he discovers that his tumor is actually a mysterious parasite. Granted a second lease on life and incredible, otherworldly powers, Alan must fight against an evil army buried beneath society’s skin, all the while unlocking the secrets of his forgotten past.”
