The Graysons to appear on Gotham?

November 10, 2014 by admin

Following the images posted over the weekend of Nicholas D’Agosto as Harvey Dent (see here and here), The Daily Beast had an interview with Gotham star Ben McKenzie who dropped the news that The Graysons could be set to appear in the show. And not only that, they could be here before this season is finished.

“The Grayson’s may appear this season,” McKenzie said. “I’m not 100 percent sure yet, but I think so.”

In Batman comics, The Graysons (also known as The Flying Graysons) are a family of acrobats who are murdered by a mob hit. The youngest of The Flying Graysons, Dick, now an orphan, is taken in by Bruce Wayne who trains him to become Robin. Given the show’s timeline, it would be expected that Dick Grayson will not be a fixture of the act.

McKenzie also notes that the show has hired Morena Baccarin, who will play Jim Gordon’s love interest Leslie Thompkins. He also notes, quite rightly so, that we shouldn’t expect to see any of the DC big screen adaptations like Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to appear in the show, “It’s a different strategy that DC has versus Marvel,” he says. “Marvel’s all about integration, and I think DC is separating their TV landscape from their film landscape. I’m certainly not against it, but since we’re an origin story, I don’t know how it could work for us.”
