Rumoured plot for Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spin-off movie

November 24, 2014 by admin

Following the news of the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuting this coming Friday in select IMAX cinemas in the US, some plot rumours have surfaced about the spin-off movie, set for release in 2016 and to be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla).

According to /Film and their “several sources”, the movie will take place before Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and will see a group of bounty hunters hired to take on the ultimate job – steal the plans for the Death Star. Think Suicide Squad meets Ocean’s Eleven.

One of the other rumours to go along with this story is that the protagonist will be one of the new additions to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, suggesting that it would be a younger version of Max Von Sydow’s character. They also claim the movie will possibly feature The Millenium Falcon, but will NOT feature Han Solo.

Rumours of a Boba Fett story are still on the speculation table, but there was nothing from /Film’s report that it would be this movie.

Of course, none of this is confirmed so we’ll just have to wait for something official for the time being.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release on December 18th 2015 and sees returning stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined by Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones), Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen.
