Chris Pine says Simon Pegg writing Star Trek 3 is a “perfect match”

January 26, 2015 by admin

In some news that surprised many last week, it was announced that Simon Pegg would be writing the third (technically, the 13th) movie in the Star Trek franchise alongside Doug Jung.

While promoting his latest movie Into the Woods, MTV asked Chris Pine about reprising his role as Captain James T. Kirk for a third time, as well as Scotty writing the script.

“What I enjoy about it is we have a laugh,” the actor said. “We want to make sure it’s embedded in there so having Simon write it is the perfect fit.”

Pegg is no stranger to writing, having co-wrote the scripts for Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End with Edgar Wright and Paul with co-star Nick Frost.
