Luke Evans in negotiations for Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

March 4, 2015 by Thomas Roach

Luke Evans looks set to play Gaston in the live action version of Disney’s  Beauty and the Beast, with Variety reporting that the actor is in negotiations to star as the villain.

Bill Condon is set to direct the film with Emma Watson starring as Belle and Ryan Gosling reportedly in the running for the Beast. This is one of many live action remakes by Disney currently in development. Cinderella is out this month, and The Jungle Book is currently in production with Jon Favreau directing.

Production on Beauty and the Beast is set to begin later this year. There is currently no set release date for the movie although it is expected to debut in 2016.
