Joss Whedon interested in directing a DC movie

We know that Joss Whedon has decided to call time on his Marvel exploits with Avengers: Age of Ultron, having decided to hand over the reins on the Avengers franchise to Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo for Avengers: Infinity War, but it seems he still has ambitions in the superhero genre, with the filmmaker telling IGN that he’d like to take a crack at a DC movie.

“I’d be like ‘I have all these joke ideas.’ And they’d be like ‘No, we don’t do that here.’ I desperately wanted to do a Batman film – who doesn’t? And I wanted to do Wonder Woman. I was a Marvel kid growing up, but I was always DC-curious. And I see myself on the spectrum in between.”

Whedon did spend several years developing a Wonder Woman movie for Warner Bros. [you can take a look at the 2005 Comic-Con poster here], and he was asked how he felt about the Amazon Princess’ upcoming big screen debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and her subsequent 2017 solo movie:

“I don’t care who she’s seeing now. We don’t talk much. And I wish her well! I worked really hard on that movie and it meant a lot, but I don’t know if what I was trying to do would fit in with what their vision is. I’m excited to see it so I just want them to make it so I can see it!”
