Second Star Wars Anthology movie will reportedly focus on Boba Fett

Happy Star Wars Day everyone! After new images and details from Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted online earlier today [see here and here], The Wrap is now reporting that the second spin-off in the Star Wars Anthology series is set to focus on the origin and backstory of Boba Fett.

Due for release in 2018, the second Anthology movie was to have been directed by Chronicle and Fantastic Four director Josh Trank, although he exited the project this past week and the film is now seeking a new director before it goes before the camera sometime next year.

The character of Boba Fett first appeared on film in the second Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back and also appearing in Return of the Jedi before featuring as a young boy alongside his father Jango Fett in the middle chapter of the prequel trilogy, Attack of the Clones. It is expected that the standalone film will take place between the two time periods.

The first standalone film Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and follows a group of resistance fighters who try to steal plans for the Death Star, with Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) set to star.
