Sela Ward to play The President in Independence Day 2

May 5, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

It looks like we’ll be seeing a female President in the White House, in movie terms at least. Word from Hollywood is that actress Sela Ward is set to take on the role of Commander in Chief in Roland Emmerich’s long-awaited sequel, Independence Day 2.

Ward, who featured in Emmerich’s 2004 disaster film The Day After Tomorrow, joins a cast that includes the returning Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner and Bill Pullman, as well as new recruits Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), Charlotte Gainsbourg (Nymphomaniac), Maika Monroe (It Follows), Joey King (Wish I Was Here) and Jessie Usher (When The Game Stands Tall).

Set for a May production start, Independence Day 2 is released on June 24th, 2016.
