Adam Warlock villain Magus rumoured for Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1

June 24, 2015 by James Garcia

According to SpoilerTV, casting auditions for Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 are currently underway in Los Angeles, and one character up for grabs is Adam Warlock’s evil doppelganger, Magus.

In the comics, Magus is Warlock’s bad side, and was released when Warlock claimed the Infinity Gauntlet and cleansed himself of all good and evil. Magus then set out to get the Gauntlet for himself, create doppelgangers of Earth’s heroes, and form a universe of evil.

Whether or not any of those crazy supervillain plots will survive the page-to-screen adaptation remains a mystery, but with the Infinity Gauntlet serving as a major macguffin for the Marvel cinematic universe, bringing a character like Magus into the fold (and using him in addition to Thanos) makes a lot of sense. It also confirms that we’ll be seeing Adam Warlock at some point as well – could those rumors that he’ll show up in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 prove true after all? We’ll see.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 will hit theaters on May 4th, 2018.
