Emma Watson joins Tom Hanks in The Circle

June 25, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that former Harry Potter star Emma Watson has signed on to appear alongside Tom Hanks in The Circle, director James Ponsoldt’s (The Spectacular Now) upcoming adaptation of the Dave Eggers novel.

“Emma Watson is one of my favorite actors, and her incredible talent, sensitivity and deep intelligence will bring an electric energy to The Circle,” Ponsoldt said.

The site reports that Watson “will portray an employee hired for a big job in an Internet monopoly called the Circle, which links users’ personal emails, social media, banking and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.”

Shooting on The Circle is set to get underway in California this September.
